Barry E. Hidey joined the staff of BAUMC in 1999 as our Lead Minister, providing the overall leadership of our church. Barry has pastored for 31 years in the Baltimore Washington Conference serving at Emory UMC, in Upperco, MD, Weller UMC in Thurmont, MD and St. Paul’s UMC in Leonardtown, MD. He is a 1980 graduate of Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in Hamilton, MA after receiving his BA in Ethics In the Religious Context from University of Maryland – Baltimore County Campus in 1977. Barry grew up in Woodlawn, MD. Barry enjoys the beach, family time, gardening, photography and reading. Barry and his wife, Holly, live in Bel Air and are the parents of Sarah, Rachel and Garon. There is one verse that explains the motivation behind Barry’s ministry - Colossians 1:28-29 “We preach Christ, warning people not to add to the Message. We teach in a spirit of profound common sense so that we can bring each person to maturity. To be mature is to be basic. Christ! No more, no less. That's what I'm working so hard at day after day, year after year, doing my best with the energy God so generously gives me.” (The Message Translation)

Carol Pazdersky – Associate Minister –

Carol Leydig Pazdersky is the Associate Pastor of Congregational Care and Missions (Local, National, and International). She has a Bachelor of Arts in English from University of Maryland, College Park and a Master of Divinity from Lancaster Theological Seminary. After serving as an associate on the Norrisville Charge and at Trinity UMC (Prince Frederick), she received an appointment to Bel Air UMC. Carol enjoys her work with the congregation and has a special interest in spiritual formation. As part of her work in Missions, Carol serves on the board of the local homeless shelter. Carol and her husband Dan have been married for twenty-five years and have three young-adult children, Christian, Elizabeth, and Rachel. Carol’s hobbies include chasing around four rescue dogs, throwing pottery, and reading.

Pastor Stan Cardwell grew up in West Virginia where he developed a love for the outdoors. Stan has served in three appointments since 1992 – Christ Church in Cumberland, St. Paul’s in Leonardtown and now as an associate at Bel Air tasked with planting a church, The Vine, in the Abingdon area. He holds a BS Mechanical Engineering from West Virginia University, an MDiv from Asbury Theological Seminary and is a dissertation away from his D.Min. Stan loves teaching, technology, reading, basketball and outdoor activities. His greatest joy comes in helping people connect with God through Jesus Christ. Stan is married to Michelle, his wife of 23 years and they have four children, Rachel (18), Rebecca (16), Daniel (15) and Lazarus (15). Doug Hollida – Director of Worship & Arts –

Rev. Doug Hollida received his bachelor’s degree in music from Shepherd College in Shepherdstown, West Virginia. He received his Master of Divinity from Trinity Episcopal School for Ministry, after which he was ordained in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Before coming to Bel Air, he served as Director of Music at Grace United Methodist in Hagerstown. Prior to that, he was a pastor in Ohio, then West Virginia. He was called to ordained ministry while serving as Director of Music at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Hagerstown.

Deb Lampton was born and raised in Indiana. She met her husband, Dan, at Lincoln Christian University where she graduated in Music and Biblical Studies. Dan and Deb have a grown daughter, Taylor. Deb has served congregations in Indiana, Idaho, Illinois and now Maryland (a state that doesn’t start with an I). She loves to make music and guide children and their families to join God in what He is doing every day. Ps 78:4 “We will not hide these truths from our children; we will tell the next generation about the glorious deeds of the Lord, about His power and mighty wonders.”

Tom Hodges – Director of Student Ministries –

Tom Hodges was born in December of 1969 in Havre de Grace, MD. For all but having spent 5 years in Hawaii in the Air Force and 2 years in Tennessee serving a church, he has lived, worked and served in Maryland. Tom married, Dee, his high school sweetheart in June of 1990 and they welcomed Mikayla into their lives in August of 2000. Tom has served churches in Hawaii, Tennessee and Maryland in both the Baptist and Methodist churches. He arrived at Bel Air UMC in January of 2006 and two days later went on his first weekend retreat with BAUMC youth. "I love teens! Their openness and honesty is so refreshing...their willingness to let you into their world and speak into it is an amazing thing to be honored with."
Tom enjoys being with his family, reading, golfing, and all kinds of sports. Tom also spends part of his time as a staff member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes of Northern Maryland and is regularly in 8 different schools throughout the month.

Hello! My name is Cindy Caldwell. I have served on the Bel Air UMC staff since 1997, where I direct the Adult Discipleship Ministries. These include Sunday and mid-week classes, membership, leadership development, and small groups. My personal mission is “to know and follow Jesus, and to help others do the same.” I was born in New Kensington, PA, grew up in Towson, MD, and received a B.A. in English from Lebanon Valley College in 1979. In May 2011, I will be completing a Master of Divinity degree at Wesley Theological Seminary. In addition to my work at Bel Air, I serve as pastor at Mt. Vernon UMC in Whiteford.
I am married to Mac (31 years!), and we are the parents of Jacob (27 & married to Diana), Jennifer (24), and Allison (15). We are also grandparents of Hannah Elizabeth (born July 27, 2010). Our family also includes our Boston/Beagle Sunny, and our cat, Sebastian. We love our pets, good movies, traveling together, and riding through the country on Mac’s motorcycle. I also enjoy reading, writing, and exercising at Curves.

Jim Schepers, born and raised in Michigan, earned his degree in Electrical Engineering at Western Michigan University. He and his wife Connie began attending BAUMC in 1986 upon moving to Bel Air from Philadelphia. Previously working 27 years in the Information Systems and Services Industry, Jim joined the BAUMC staff in July of 2000 to oversee the day-to-day operation of the office, facility and support staff, and to facilitate the churches strategic planning process. Jim and his wife Connie, who works in the library at Edgewood Middle school, have two married daughters; Sarah and her husband David living in North Carolina, and Mary and Julio who live in Bel Air.

Linda was born and raised in Harford County, attended John Carroll High School and College of Notre Dame of Maryland. After graduating college, she married her high school sweetheart, Mark. Subsequently, they had 2 beautiful girls named Chloe and Lauren. One is in college and the other is about to enter high school. She comes to us with extensive work experience in bookkeeping and office management.

My name is Judy Jones, and my husband and I have been members of Bel Air United Methodist Church for 25 years. We have seven children and seven grandchildren. We reside in Forest Hill and have a black lab named Pepper Jack and an American Bull Dog named Bo. I lead the Monday Night Women’s Bible Study and direct the Cherub Choir. I am also active in Maryland Emmaus. My hobbies include reading and quilting. It’s a pleasure to be a member of the Church Staff.

Alice is a native Harford Countian who has lived on the family farm in Bel Air her entire life. Alice’s family attended Mt. Carmel Church, where she was baptized, and then joined Bel Air Methodist Church on Main Street, where she was confirmed. She is a graduate of Bel Air High School and Harford Community College, with a degree in Office Education. After working for the federal government at Aberdeen Proving Ground-Edgewood Area for 18 years, she began full-time employment at the church in 1992. Alice currently serves as the Office & Facility Coordinator and is responsible for scheduling all the many activities held in the church building, organizing the many mailings sent to the congregation, coordinating financial matters and the annual audit, and keeping things flowing in the Church Office. She is on the Board of Trustees and is the manager of Mt. Carmel Cemetery. She has also served as Hospitality Coordinator since 1989, overseeing the kitchen and preparing food for many functions held here at the church. Alice serves as a Director and is Secretary to the Board of Directors of the Harford County Farm Fair. She is very knowledgeable about local and church history.

I was born and raised in the Reading, PA area. I have been on staff for over 20 years. Before that I worked for an attorney for 19 years. I am married to Dave and we have three daughters and five grandchildren. We live in Forest Hill. I love the outdoors and walking my two dogs, Sugar and Cinnamon! Hobbies include beaching/camping, reading, swimming, and gardening. My prayer is that God’s light and love shines through me to our youth and all that I meet. Life is an adventure… staying as positive as you can through all the stuff and joys!

I was born in New York City and am married to a wonderful man, Michael B. Wolf in October 1992 and soon after gave birth to a perfect little girl, Kimberly Danielle Wolf in 1996. For our daughter’s sake my husband and I decided to move out of New York. Because of the quality of the education system and the peace and quiet, we moved to Bel Air in June 2005. I started working at Bel Air United Methodist Church on April 10, 2006 as the Membership and Data Coordinator and love every minute of it.

I came to work at Bel Air UM church over 5 years ago. It has been uplifting. I have met many wonderful people! It has been spiritually, physically and financially rewarding to me and my family. I enjoy my job! I enjoy every day life! On the side, I do auto detailing, love to sing and praise the Lord. I was born and raised in Maryland in Havre de Grace. I started part time in 2001 and today I work full time. It was an uplifting experience! I have never had so much joy as I do working at Bel Air UM Church. I was born and raised in Baltimore and then relocated to Darlington. God gives me strength every day to do what I have to do. I currently take care of my mother and sister with whom I reside. I love to shop on QVC! Other things I enjoy are reading, watching movies and being with my mother.

Jeff Shimek – Weekend Custodian
I became of member of BAUMC in 1961 when it was located on Main Street. I joined the Navy in 1976. After serving my commitment, I moved to Nashville, TN, where I met my wife. We were married in 1985. In 1995, my wife accepted a job in Washington, D C with the Enviromental Protection Agency so we relocated to Alexandria, VA. Our home was right across the street from Wesley UM Church. I became active in the church, serving for awhile on the board of Trustees and attending Bible studies class. In 1999, were blessed with the arrival of our son. We moved to Bel Air in 2004 to raise our son. I am honored to return to BAUMC to serve as weekend custodian.

I have been the Director of the Children’s Christian Center since August of 2006. Born in Paris, Texas, I moved to Maryland with my family as a child. I currently live in Baltimore City. I have an Associate’s degree in early childhood education and am pursuing a BA from Stevenson University. I have been working as an early childhood educator for over 15 years. I have worked as a family nanny, a preschool teacher, an assistant director and a director. As an early childhood educator my goal is to provide a safe and happy environment for each child that will stimulate their physical, social, emotional and their spiritual growth. I feel that each child should have an opportunity to learn and grow in their faith, as well as their education in a loving and caring environment.
